2 Area Youths Named National Food Insecurity Heroes

Two Montgomery County youths received the 10 Under 20 Food Heroes award from Hormel Foods Wednesday.
Cavanaugh Bell, 9, of Gaithersburg and Shrusti Armula, 16, of Rockville received the national honor for “making a significant impact by creating innovative ways to address food insecurity and help make a positive impact on our global food system.”

‘Food heroes’: Hormel Foods recognizes Sherrill teen with award for food pantry

Six months after Adam Fellows built a food pantry in his hometown of Sherrill, the 19-year old received a phone call that came as a big surprise to him.
That phone call revealed Fellows was recognized by Hormel Foods as part of the company’s inaugural 10 Under 20 Food Heroes Awards. These “food heroes” from across the country were recognized for creating ways to solve food insecurity and environmental problems. The award included a $2,000 grant, which Fellows donated to the Madison-Oneida Child Protective Services.
